Diploma of Emergency Health Care – A preferred entry pathway into a Bachelor of Paramedical Science or Nursing
Why is Heed Health Education’s Diploma of Emergency Health Care a preferred entry pathway into a Bachelor of Paramedical Science or Nursing?
It is not uncommon for students with low ATAR score to opt for Foundation Studies with universities as a pathway to entry into a bachelor’s degree. However, our research indicates that these Foundation Studies are to prepare one for university studies by helping one develop skills in academic writing, maths and statistics. The skills included in Foundation Level courses are:
- understanding of university life
- digital literacy and reading skills
- academic communication skills
- critical thinking and analytical skills
Appreciate some people would prefer this as a chosen path as their commitment to a 3-year full-time bachelor’s program. However, at Heed Health Education, we would like to suggest a different and job-ready pathway that provides with hands-on practical training and an opportunity to work in the industry! This also allows for testing the water instead of taking a deep dive into a university degree which could be expensive and might not be your path!
At Heed Health Education, we suggest taking a Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathway via enrolling into a Diploma of Emergency Health Care as this not only is a preferred pathway to enter Bachelor of Paramedical Science and pathway to Bachelor of Nursing but also helps reduce the duration of Bachelor program by up to 1 year. Even the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) research suggests:
- VET qualifications enable new graduates to ‘hit the ground running’ when entering occupations compared to higher education qualifications; and
- VET and higher education individuals in the same occupation initially do the same jobs and tasks and receive the same pay.
Here’s why Darian (completing Diploma of Emergency Health Care with Heed Health Education) chose to take this pathway and has already received multiple offers for an entry into both Bachelor of Paramedical Science and Nursing for 2023.
Well Done Darian…very proud of your achievements!
