Ambulance Officer
Qualification required:
- Certificate IV in Health Care; or
- Diploma of Emergency Health Care
Responsibilities
Assess and prioritise risks, resource requirements and services required for best patient outcomes.
Provide patient care in accordance with the clinical practice guidelines.
While complying with the driving standard requirements, transport patients safely.
Effectively manage and maintain organisational assets and equipment e.g. vehicles supplies, medical equipment etc.
Safely and efficiently provide treatment to patients, with referral to appropriate health care pathways.
Perform the clinical role as an integrated part of a community health system.
Effectively communicate and document appropriate outcomes.
Responsibilities
Perform patient assessment and intervention on-road.
Assess the effectiveness of any intervention in accordance with the required guidelines and regulations and within prescribed scope of practice.
Provide high quality patient care and treatment during on-road transport.
Monitor ongoing patient status and initiate necessary additional care as required
Ensure all relevant information is recorded on the Patients Care Records.
Maintain an understanding the required Policies and procedures and Non-Emergency Patient Transport Regulations to support best practice.
Emergency Services Officer (ESO) / Site (Mine) Medic
Qualification required:
- Certificate IV in Health Care
- Diploma of Emergency Health Care
Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently transport patient under routine driving conditions.
Establish and maintain communication as required between driver and vehicle occupants to ensure effective patient care during transport.
Assist the Ambulance Transport Attendant in the care and management of the patient as requested.
Drive vehicle under operational conditions in a low risk manner and according to legal requirements.
Accurately and effectively relay clinical findings to the relevant referral Point.
Under the direction of Operations Management, provide support to Emergency crews when required.
Recognise and negotiate hazards at low risk in accordance with road traffic Acts and legal requirements governing emergency vehicles.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Qualification required:
- Certificate IV in Health Care
- Diploma of Emergency Health Care
Responsibilities
Providing basic life support/advanced life support (dependant on qualifications) to a range of patients across various locations.
Provide patient assessments inclusive of vital signs surveys.
Provide non-emergency patient transport.
Apply appropriate treatment pathways for patients whilst in transit to achieve positive clinical outcomes.
Assist in the extrication of patients.
Patient Transport Officer (PTO)
Qualification required:
- Certificate IV in Health Care
- Diploma of Emergency Health Care
Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently transport patient under routine driving conditions.
Establish and maintain communication as required between driver and vehicle occupants to ensure effective patient care during transport.
Assist the Ambulance Transport Attendant in the care and management of the patient as requested.
Drive vehicle under operational conditions in a low risk manner and according to legal requirements.

Providing basic life support and advanced life support to a range of patients across various events e.g. sports and stadiums, racing and motorsports, concerts and music festivals, business functions and worksites, schools, film, TV and stunts etc.

Provide non-emergency patient transport.
Assist in the extrication of patients.
Document and communicate patient information with key stakeholders.
Industrial Medic
Qualification required:
- Certificate IV in Health Care
- Diploma of Emergency Health Care
Responsibilities
Providing basic life support and advanced life support to a range of patients across various work and construction sites.
Provide patient assessments inclusive of vital signs surveys.
Provide non-emergency patient transport.
Assist in the extrication of patients.
Document and communicate patient information with key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Providing basic life support and advanced life support to a range of patients across various mine sites.
Job responsibilities would be similar to an ESO/EMT.
Provide patient assessments inclusive of vital signs surveys.
Provide non-emergency patient transport.
Assist in the extrication of patients.
Document and communicate patient information with key stakeholders.
Defence Force Medic
Qualification required:
- Certificate IV in Health Care
- Diploma of Emergency Health Care
Responsibilities
Provide basic emergency response.
Care for in-patients and out patients.
Management and coordinating role in the field or health facilities.
Involvement in the day to day running of a medical facility.
Conduct health training including instruction and supervision of subordinates.
Promote health and well-being for personnel.
Rescue Medic / Adventure and Expedition Medic
Qualification required:
- Certificate IV in Health Care
- Diploma of Emergency Health Care
Responsibilities
Provide technical rescue such as vertical rescue, road crash rescue, swift water rescue, HAZMAT (in collaboration with Fire services).
Coordinate with the on‑call doctor or other key stakeholders to provide the best care for the patient.
Plan and facilitate the emergency response exercises for the site.
Facilitate emergency evacuation drills.
Prepare rescue plans to support the permit to work system.
Ambulance Dispatch Officer
Recommended Qualifications:
- Certificate IV in Health Care; or
- Diploma of Emergency Health Care
