Placement Guarantee*
HEED Health Education organises and guarantees all clinical placement hours, supported by Medical Edge Australia. You’ll complete 80 hours of supervised placement in real-world healthcare environments, ensuring you graduate with confidence and hands-on experience.
Conditions apply to the guaranteed placement with Medical Edge Australia. Placement is not available to students currently holding managerial roles within competing organisations. Students already employed or volunteering with another organisation are expected to complete their placement hours with that organisation. Placement availability is subject to geographical location and MEA’s operational areas. HEED Health Education and MEA will endeavour to provide access to placement shifts; however, students, particularly those in rural or remote areas, may be required to travel to access these placements.

*After the completion of HLTWHS002 unit of competency, student is ready to attend a two (2) day face-to-face Foundation Skills Workshop in either QLD, NSW, VIC or WA.
Term 2: Duration six (6) months
Student completes the following units in an online learning environment:

HLTOUT007 Transport non-emergency patients under operational conditions

After the satisfactory completion of online tasks for the above mentioned units of competency, the student is ready to attend a seven (7) day face-to-face Clinical Intensive Workshop 1 in either QLD, NSW, VIC or WA.
Upon satisfactory completion of Clinical Intensive Workshop 1, student is ready to attend Clinical Placement.
Duration: 60hrs Clinical Placement
Term 3: Duration six (6) months
Student completes the following units in an online learning environment:
HLTOUT005 Assess and deliver standard clinical care
HLTOUT009 Manage the scene of a major incident
CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
CHCPRP003 Reflect and improve professional practice
After the satisfactory completion of online tasks for the above mentioned units of competency, the student is ready to attend a seven (7) day face-to-face Clinical Intensive Workshop 2 in either QLD, NSW, VIC or WA.
Upon satisfactory completion of Clinical Intensive Workshop 2, student is ready to attend Clinical Placement.
Duration: 100hrs Clinical Placement
Age: 17 years or older
Residency: Australian Citizen / Permanent Resident, or valid visa (domestic only)
Driver’s Licence: Valid licence (P-plates accepted; Open preferred)
Fitness: Must be able to perform CPR, lift/stretchers, and work in confined spaces
Certificates Required: Current CPR & First Aid before workshops/placement
Before Placement: Working With Children Check, National Police Check, immunisation evidence
Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Skills (LLND): Basic language, literacy, numeracy, and digital skills assessment required
Technology Access: Laptop, internet, webcam, and MS Office (see Handbook for full details)

Important information about VET Student Loans
• HEED Health Education (RTO #45064) offers this course.
• VET Student Loans will not be approved for students who do not meet eligibility requirements.
• A VET Student Loan gives rise to a VETSL debt that continues to be a debt due to the Commonwealth until it is repaid.
Eligible students can apply for a VET Student Loan to help cover tuition fees. The loan amount is paid directly to HEED Health by the Australian Government, and the balance (if any) is paid by the student.
Students must complete a VET Student Loan application and read the Student Handbook before applying.
You’ll start repaying once your income is above the government threshold.
