Unit Delivery Structure

The course is delivered under a blended delivery model that entails online learning, attending face-to-face clinical workshops and completing clinical placement.

Step 1: Student completes the following units in an online learning environment:

  • BSBMED301 Interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately
  • HLTAAP002 Confirm physical health status
  • HLTOUT010 Communicate in complex situations to support health
  • HLTINF001 Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures
  • HLTWHS005 Conduct manual tasks safely
  • HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care
  • HLTOUT001 Implement safe access and egress
  • HLTOUT007 Transport non-emergency patients under operational conditions
  • HLTOUT004 Assess and deliver basic clinical care (import)
  • HLTOUT008 Manage a scene
  • CHCCCS020 Respond effectively to behaviours of concern

Student completes and achieves a satisfactory result for the theory and practical exercises in an online learning environment.

There is an option for students to attend Clinical Workshop for 1 day to complete the practical exercises after satisfactorily completing theory questions in an online learning environment.

Step 2: Student is now ready to attend clinical intensive workshop

  • Clinical Workshop – Duration: 7 days (Monday – Sunday)  

Step 3: Upon satisfactory completion of clinical intensive workshop, student is ready to attend clinical placement 

  • 80hrs clinical placement

Step 4: Student completes the following units in an online learning environment: 

  • CHCCOM005 Communicate and work in the health or community services (import)
  • CHCLEG001 Work legally and ethically
  • CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  • HLTWHS006 Manage personal stressors in the work environment
  • BSBFLM303 Contribute to effective workplace relationships
